Background
Joseph Piontek (b. 1990) is a composer and pianist currently residing in Kansas. He has music published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing, and his works have been performed by the Kansas City Women’s Chorus, various ensembles at Free State High School, and small ensembles and soloists in local festivals. Additionally, Mr. Piontek has received commissions from the Kansas Music Teachers Association, and from ensembles selected to perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop.
Mr. Piontek holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Central Missouri. Highlights of his performing career include prizes in the Colorado MTNA Young Artist Competition (winner) and the Boulder International Chamber Music Competition (semi-finalist), and collaborations with members of the Colorado Ballet Orchestra and the Boulder Philharmonic. In addition to composing and performing, Joseph serves as the choral accompanist at Free State High School in Lawrence, KS, and as the organist at First Baptist Church of Topeka, KS.
